It's a bunch of Dinos!

I had mentioned earlier that I participated in a boy embellishment swap and I'm finally stinkin' done. I was completely out of ideas but, I knew I wanted to use my Cricut so after browsing the carts I had I wasn't impressed. I finally checked out SVG Cuts and found this perfect little dino that could really be used for a boy or a girl. He is super cute and best of all I have never used my Sure Cuts a Lot 2. So I decided to give SCAL a try and low and behold I LOVE IT!! I will definitely be looking for more svg files in the future. You'd think I would have used it a lot sooner since I bought it right when SCAL 2 came out and I HAD to have it... right!

This is my bunch of dinos I came up with.

I really like them and I hope the other 9 ladies I am trading with like them also. Can't wait to see what comes back to me in the mail.

On another note:

My 9.5 month old started walking. He turned 10 months on the 3rd so I guess now he is 10 months :) but, at the time of this video he was only 9 months....crazy how fast they grow!!!  I thought I would share him taking a cruise.

Bottle Cap Tutorial

This is my first ever tutorial so excuse the mess of learning.

What you need:

1 inch punch or scissors
Glossy Accents or Diamond Glaze
1 inch Epoxy Stickers (method 1, not needed for method 2)
flattened or regular bottle caps with no ring
Drill or Big Bite
paper
jump rings
beads or charms
Head pin findings
Mod Podge (if using a photo or paper that could bleed)

There are 2 ways to accomplish this look and the bottlecap stickers I found was FAR easier in my opinion and no mess but, I will show you both for the sake of learning.

I ordered my flattened bottlecaps and epoxy stickers from ebay. The epoxy 1 inch stickers are called Fizzy Pops. I got a bag of 100 caps and 100 epoxy stickers.

Then I used my Big Bite and punched holes in the top and bottom of the bottlecap. You can also use a drill to do this but, since I don't mess with power tools I passed. This is optional. I like to use a jump ring on the top to attach it to my project and a jump ring on bottom to add a bead charm.

Then take your scissors or 1 inch punch and cut/punch out your image.(IF YOU USE A PHOTO OR THIN PAPER SEAL IT FIRST WITH MOD PODGE) I used some left over paper I had from my 2 peas swap.

TO USE THE EPOXY STICKERS : place the epoxy sticker over your image and press firmly.

TO USE JUST GLOSSY ACCENTS IGNORE THE STICKER STEP

Put a thin layer of Glossy Accents on your cap and I used my finger to coat the cap. This keeps air bubbles from popping up later.

Then place either just your image if you are going to use only Glossy Accents or your Epoxy stickered image onto the cap. MAKE SURE THE IMAGE IS FACING  UPRIGHT WITH THE JUMP RING HOLES, or you will be all sideways. I let this sit overnight to keep air bubbles out. If using just the stickers you are DONE just place your jump rings in and charms and add it on your layout.

GLOSSY ACCENTS:

After your image and cap has sit overnight place a thin layer of Accents over the image slowly and watch for air bubbles. I check back about 30 mins later for any new air bubbles that may have popped up and poke them with a needle.

Allow to dry overnight but, still be careful it took mine almost 3 days before it was completely dry. Add your jump rings and charms and you are DONE!

Clear as mud? I hope this make sense to everyone. You can use any image as long as it is cardstock or thicker paper. IF YOU USE A PHOTO MAKE SURE TO SEAL IT FIRST WITH MOD PODGE

Did you make some caps? Link up in the comments so we can see your layouts... I will add them to the thread for followers to see examples.

Happy Capping!!!

Space Age Boy Page

I mentioned before that I did a swap over at 2 Peas and one of the set of papers I used was To the Moon - Kazowie by Fancy Pants  Designs. This is what I came up with so far.

The stipulations were you had to have 3 photo mats and a journaling space on a 2 page layout. We are not adding titles so the recipients can add their own when they get them. I am not that fond of my journaling space so I might change that but, I haven't decided yet. I used stickles in the corners, white cardstock and the journal flags are from colorbok, everything else is from that specific line.

I also used an Allison Davis sketch for my layout modified for an 8x8 layout. I love me some Allison Davis!!!

Tuesday: Rhyming Words

Since my son decided he didn't want to cut his teeth but, instead he wanted to WALK for us... yes that is right. My 9 month old started taking steps yesterday! This one is for him. I know his is not a toddler yet but, he seems well on his way.

Toddler's Poem

Author: Unknown
Two little eyes
Discovering what's new
Two little hands
Touching everything in view
A sweet little voice
Asking you why
A mischievous smile
And a whimpering cry
Two little feet
Jumping on the floor
A toddler's mission
is to explore

Out for Teething

Well Ladies I am sorry but, I am out for just a bit dealing with my 9 month old who is cutting his top teeth. I have tried setting time aside for this but, he will not let me out of his sight.

However COMING SOON:

I did a swap of charms and any boy looking ones I am going to share here with a tutorial on how to make them. It will be my first picture tutorial so I will do my very best. Also I have not done many charms so if you are better at them than me feel free to comment.

Also I did a BOY embellishment swap over at 2 Peas with at least 3 layers so I will be sharing those as well very soon.

And 2 ALL boy Albums, One using To the Moon by Fancy Pants and the 2nd using Lime Twist Go Fly A Kite by My Mind's Eye and will be made by 9 different people (Peas) making 1 - 2 page layout each, so lots of variety. They all have graciously agreed to allow me to share here.

I also am going to share B's baby album that I got a lot of the ideas/"scraplifted" off Elle's Studio and she agreed that I could share my album here also. I felt guilty since some of her pages I almost just copied minus B's pictures :) and  some different product, some the same. She didn't mind and said that is why she posted them for people to use as inspiration/copy or do whatever they choose as long as they didn't use her photos! Love, Love, Love her site Elle's Studio Blog

So look for that coming very soon. Lot's in store.

Love it! Bottle caps.

I recently ran across making these while joining a swap with the lovely Pea's over at Two Peas in a Bucket and I LOVE them!!!. I have officially decided that they will be added to my list of boy embellishments. The choices are endless with what you can do with them and how you can make them. I picked owls and butterflies for my swap but, the owls could easily go on any of my boy pages! I also used wooden beads for the jewelry dangle which also adds to the boy effect.

Overall very cheap. I bought 100 bottlecaps on ebay for $8.00, bottle of Glossy Accents by Ranger, some beads and findings (pack of headpins and a pack of jump rings) on sale at Hobby Lobby and my total there was $19.00. I also bought the optional 1 inch epoxy stickers on Ebay for $12.00 which I ended up not using. That comes out to about 28 cents per bottle cap. Not too bad in my book and they are all customizable.

I was thinking that I could put a dino, rocket, a mushroom, or text... There are so many possibilities and I will most definitely be back with more of these and I think a beginner tutorial. I am definitely a beginner at these but, I will do my best and refer to some more experienced bottle cappers.

Here are a few more I found over at Craftster Forum. The ideas are flowing.

If you have a page or project with bottlecaps let me know I would be glad to direct your way!
